Do you have those 9am’s where you think ‘I want to look good, but can I be bothered? Do I have the energy?’ Here’s my advice everybody – Keep it simple and stick to your style.
‘yes, its 9am, yes I’m tired, yes I’m still half asleep’
Remember that even for a lecture or lesson, comfort is key. Some people choose to go all out, get dolled up to the nines and there is nothing wrong with that but if that isn’t who you are, don’t feel pressured. I get it, you want to looked stylish but you feel like you give off that ‘yes, its 9am, yes I’m tired, yes I’m still half asleep’ vibe. I know it well, I’ve been there.
Rips & Reeboks
For me, nothing says ‘cool’ *laughs at self for that amazing adjective* like ripped jeans and trainers. It shows off my edgy style whilst being comfortable and usually prepared for this English weather. Skinny jeans will always bring that ‘stylish feel’ to any outfit, much more than any other fit of jean in my personal opinion; they also say ‘I’m in with the times, I know what’s fashionable and looks good’.
‘If you’re obsessed with them like me, i just walk around thinking… WANT. WANT. WANT.’
Trainers are something I consider to be a wardrobe staple. If you purchase a statement white or black pair, like my Reeboks here, they just add a stab of pure edge to any outfit. (Does anyone else find that ‘edge’ is so hard to define? It feels almost like an innate trait of yourself!)
and P.S. – If my University is anything to go by, everyone wears trainers and everyone’s look so good. If you’re obsessed with them like me, i just walk around thinking… WANT. WANT. WANT.
The Perfect Polo
The outfit photographed here is the outfit I wore to my first day back of lectures. The day wasn’t too cold but nothing was more perfect than this fitted roll neck. It’s not a thick material at all but the way it hugs your body definitely keeps the heat in. With my entire outfit being plain, this added that pop of different pattern and texture that outfits sometimes need but keeping it in my monochrome theme; which pretty much takes over my entire wardrobe anyway, let’s be honest.
My absolute biggest love for literally every single season is this BEAUTY of a denim jacket. I hear you saying ‘Sarah, its just an oversized jacket… its nothing special?’
I have to disagree people. There is no outfit this jacket does not complete, it’s light denim makes it so versatile, it’s surprisingly warm for these months but looks insanely good with shorts in spring when you don’t want to overheat too. I cannot explain how much I want everyone to own one, there’s a reason they were huge in the 80s and still are now, both my parents had one!
Here, the high-neck collar of the jumper looks so great with the wider, open collar of the jacket. Always pair tight fitting tops with loose fitting jackets or outerwear, I find this always looks classy & doesn’t drown you in material.
It’s timeless, its versatile and mine happens to be LEVIS. Obsessed is not even the word.
‘really reach the goals, not only that you want to attain, but the goals you truly can attain when you put your mind to it.’
The Nitty Gritty
Sorry to have to do this guys but the boring stuff matters too. Get yourself a bag that fits who you are. If you’re girlie and love a handbag – get one that fits all your work in. If you’re like me and prefer a backpack style then don’t get one you don’t like and won’t want to use, mine is from TopShop and has a nice snakeskin texture to it that looks quite neat and not *for want of a better word* ugly.
After all this fashion chat, let’s get REAL! The work you put into these 3/4 years of your life will be so beneficial to you if it’s something you want to achieve. Get yourself a notebook and some pens, get your notes down, do your revision and really reach the goals, not only that you want to attain, but the goals you truly can attain when you put your mind to it.
