London, as a city, has to be one of the most vibrant, energetic places I have ever explored before; it’s such atmospheric place to be!
I made my way down to ‘The Smoke’ with my family to see my brother in The Dover Road by A.A.Milne at The Jermyn Street Theatre and his performance was incredible, I am not just a biased sister either, he has been mentioned as a stand-out actor in The Guardian as well as on many theatre & book blogs; so you don’t just have to take my word for it on that one.
‘despite my brother and I being merely a twinkle in the eye of our parents 29 years ago when they were there last.’
Don’t we all love a good hotel?
I know I do and I can vouch for The Strand Palace Hotel being an absolute gem. This trip, although mainly to celebrate my brother’s success, ended up being a trip down memory lane for my parents. They honeymooned in London and stayed at the Strand Palace hotel, so, my entire trip had an almost nostalgic feeling for us all despite my brother and I being merely a twinkle in the eye of our parents 29 years ago when they were last there.
Built on The Strand itself, hence the name, this hotel could not be more perfectly located. With Piccadilly Circus & Trafalgar Square just a stone’s throw away and one right turn taking you to the ever-majestic River Thames, everything is on your doorstep; quite literally.
‘The Port House is a prime example of London’s elegance, class and why it is one of the best cities in the world.’
Food is always high on my list of priorities in every situation, ever ever!! I am passionate about nice food.
Just down the road from our hotel was The Port House. An amazing little treasure, tucked away from the bustling street and serving the most delicious tapas. Oh, and not forgetting the trip down memory lane, my parents sat in that very place nearly 30 years ago and made a toast to their marriage and the life ahead of them. Who knew that this weekend they would sit there with their two, now adult, children by their side; I just think it’s the most beautiful feeling when you can share things like that with the people you love the most.
Back to the food, we indulged in mushrooms on ciabatta, calamari, smoked salmon with greek yoghurt & much more. This quaint beauty is definitely somewhere you should try out if you’re looking for something chain restaurants never achieve; individuality. With it’s rustic vibe and, for me personally, its history, The Port House is a prime example of London’s elegance, class and why it is one of the best cities in the world.
